In 2005, Preston moved from Owen Sound to Thornbury and quickly established his business in the area. "I've been in the pool and hot tub business for over 35 years, and this location has been home to Thornbury Clear Choice for 18 years," says Preston. "We employ a great team here, and everyone works hard to deliver the best service to our customers."
Preston's team is his pride and joy. "We treat our staff really well, and everyone enjoys working here," he explains. "We've got a great group of people, and it's a big team for a small business, but I wouldn't have it any other way."
A Focus on Service
One of the key differentiators for Thornbury Clear Choice is its commitment to customer service. "Our service area stretches from Collingwood and Meaford down to the Beaver Valley and Flesherton," says Preston. "We want to be the company that customers return to year after year."
The service side of the business is where Thornbury Clear Choice truly shines. "Our service business has always done really well because we maintain pools and hot tubs all year round," Preston explains. "We have 30 to 40 pools we maintain every week, and we do weekly and bi-weekly services." This commitment to ongoing support helps ensure that pools and spas remain in top condition, with staff who have been with the business for many years.
The company also maintains a dedicated service centre and warehouse, separate from their showroom, which allows them to manage the high volume of service orders they receive. "We process between 45 and 50 work orders a day, and it's a well-oiled machine," says Preston. "Our office upstairs handles the logistics, and the service team gets to work. It's an operation run like two separate businesses, even though it's all part of the same."
Innovating for the Future
Thornbury Clear Choice has always stayed ahead of the curve, and Preston is always looking for new products for his customers. "We're always bringing in new products, whether it's the latest in swim spas or cold plunge tubs," he shares. "We're also working on bringing in chiller tubs, which have been growing in popularity."
Giving Back to the Community
At Thornbury Clear Choice, giving back to the community is at the heart of their business. Preston is a proud sponsor of the Georgian Bay Apple Kings, a senior AA hockey team that plays out of the Beaver Valley Arena. "We've been the key sponsor for the Apple Kings, and it's been great to see the team grow and succeed," says Preston. "We're also heavily involved in other local initiatives, including our annual charity barbecue, which raises money for local families and causes."
In addition to the charity barbecue, Preston is also a supporter of local organizations and regularly sponsors community events and sports teams. "If a group or event comes to us for support, we're always happy to help," says Preston. "Supporting our community is something that means a lot to us."
Looking to the Future
As Preston looks ahead, he's focused on ensuring that Thornbury Clear Choice remains a community staple for many years to come. "I'm planning to eventually step back, but I'm not quite there yet," he shares. "My goal is to ensure this business continues to serve the community and maintain the high standards we've set over the years."
