Public beaches include Christie Beach, Council Beach, Northwinds Beach, Little River Beach, Peasemarsh Beach, Delphi Point and Craigleith Provincial Park, each offering a unique shoreline, amenities, and swimming experience.
Beach & Park Safety
Get outside and experience over 285 km of public trails that weave their way throughout The Blue Mountains. Home to a section of The Bruce Trail and a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, hiking in The Blue Mountains along the Niagara Escarpment promises expansive views of Georgian Bay and the countryside.
Explore caves and crevasses, forested trails, and wide-open spaces at Loree Forest, Metcalfe Rock, Pretty River Provincial Park, or Kolapore Uplands.

Fishing in The Blue Mountains offers small streams, wide rivers, and the expanse of Georgian Bay. Expect to find native species such as trout, bass, and salmon, among others. Located in the heart of downtown Thornbury, the Fishway is a popular attraction for observing fish swimming up the Beaver River to spawn. Species such as rainbow, or brown trout, and chinook salmon can be observed in the spring and fall, respectively.

At the intersection of the Beaver River and Georgian Bay is the Thornbury Harbour. Home to the Thornbury Yacht Club, Little River Beach Park and the Thornbury Pier, the Harbour offers seasonal mooring, washroom facilities, a playground and picnic area - perfect for a day of boating, swimming, or relaxing.
The Town-owned and operated Tomahawk Golf Course (par 54), and Monterra Golf at Blue Mountain Resort (par 72), are public course options in The Blue Mountains. Private club options include Georgian Bay Club (par 71), and The Golf Club at Lora Bay (par 72). From the laid-back setting at Tomahawk to the sprawling hills of Monterra, wherever you choose to tee off, your round will be relaxing and fun.
The Town-owned and operated Tomahawk Recreation Complex includes soccer fields, a golf course, and washroom facilities. A welcoming area for recreation enthusiasts of all ages and abilities, Tomahawk is a popular meeting ground during warm-weather months. The Town of The Blue Mountains is proud to be home to Ontario's largest destination resort. Blue Mountain Resort boasts 42 ski and snowboard trails in the winter, and unique attractions in the 'green' season, including a downhill mountain coaster, open-air gondola, ziplines, ropes courses, and more. Nestled at the base of the Escarpment is the Blue Mountain Village, offering award-winning events, boutique shops and unique restaurants.
Recreation is best enjoyed when proper planning is executed. Be advised that parking areas at trailheads, beaches, and public spaces are limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis. Vehicles parking in violation of local By-laws (ex. By-Law 2003-11) may be ticketed or towed.
Hours of operation at recreation areas vary seasonally. It is strongly advised that visitors check the hours of operation and maps online for updates or changes, prior to their arrival.
When enjoying a public space in the Town of The Blue Mountains, 2-metre physical distancing must be observed, as well as regular handwashing/sanitizing. Please stay at home if you are sick. While additional measures are being taken to maintain cleanliness and sanitization, common touchpoints within public outdoor spaces are not sanitized or cleaned after each use.
Pets must be leashed at all times and pet waste must be cleaned up. Please dispose of waste properly by either placing it in the receptacles provided or by packing it up and disposing of it properly at home.
